Triathlon
Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and several members of Witham Dolphins have taken part in events up and
down the country.
Triathlon is a sport that comprises of a swim, cycle then run. There are many different distances, starting from sprint events to
ironman and beyond. The good news is that there are many novice events for new triathletes to get a taste of triathlons and that
initially the only equipment needed is a swim suit, clothes and shoes to cycle and run in, and a bike and helmet.
The further good news is that you are never too young or too old! There are scootathons for under 8s where scooting takes the
place of swimming, and many events have entrants male and female in their 60s and beyond. A word of warning though, it is very
addictive and soon you’ll want to upgrade everything!
There are numerous websites that give great advice:
Tritalk A fantastic resource that included event listings, articles on training and a forum for banter and advice.
Britishtriathlon The British triathlon federation listing clubs and events, among other information.
BeginnerTriathlete Another fantastic resource filled website.
