Anti Fog Film

Many goggles are now fitted with an Anti Fog Film on the inside of the lens, improving vision and reducing 'fogging' up. Most good quality goggles with anti fog should last for up to 1 year - or longer if you follow a few simple steps

ANTI FOG works by placing water in to the goggles which 'sticks' to the Anti Fog film creating an additional film of water

  • DO

Use CLEAN tap water from the tap or spit - Pour the water in from the tap swish it around and throw away the excess - goggles are ready to go

  • DON’T

Use chlorinated swimming pool water - it is not clean and contains all sorts of oils etc. These oils also stick to the Anti Fog Film and renders it useless

  • DON’T

Touch the inside of the lens with your fingers. This has the effect of scratching the film off or placing a fingerprint on the Anti Fog film again rendering it useless

If your goggles are constantly fogging up - before you throw them away, tell your supplier they are selling duff gear, buy “Anti-Fog” Liquid, try these simple tips;

  • Place some dishwashing LIQUID in to the goggles
  • Carefully - Use SOFT Cotton wool (not Cotton buds) and clean out the oils. You can also use wet toilet roll, but  DO NOT USE KITCHEN ROLL - IT IS ABRASIVE
  • Clean and rinse the goggles out thoroughly with clean water

Goggle Adjustment

Believe it or not 90% of goggles leak from the Nose Piece. Typically we try to solve the problem of leaking goggles by tighten the Head Strap, but all this does is pull the nose piece even further apart!

Below is list on how to correctly adjust your goggles. Follow in THIS ORDER and you will resolve that leak!

  • NOSE PIECE ADJUSTMENT (For adjustable or varied detachable sized nose pieces)

1.

Select or adjust the nose piece and put the goggles on (do not put the head strap on yet)

2.

The goggles should slightly pinch on either side of the nose

  • HEAD STRAP ADJUSTMENT (For all goggles)

3.

Adjust the head strap so its fits loosely over the head

4.

Push Off from the wall as hard as you can - head down (you will never swim any faster than this (except for a dive))

5.

If the goggles fall off - Slightly tighten the head strap until the goggles no longer fall off (this may take several attempts)
