Witham Dolphins S.C. Claim 2nd Place in Essex Swimming League

Saturday 01st April 2006

On Saturday 01 April 2006 it was the the final leg of the Essex Swimming League Winter League Championships Witham Dolphins Swimming Club travelled to Barking to compete in the final showdown and try and claim their victory in the league.

Swimming against teams from Epping, Dagenham, Leyton & Barking the Small team of Dolphins fought and swam hard in what can be described as an electric atmosphere. Regrettably the team from Epping proved just that little bit to strong for the Dolphins on the night and they had to succumb to take a well deserved second placed overall in both the evenings gala and the final league placing.  During the evening a total of 48 events were swam with WITHAM claiming a total of no less than 13, 1st Place Swims and another massive crop of 20 Personal Best Times.

Special mention must go to all our First Place Swimmers namely Lauren Flight, Myles Florey, Matthew Bilbey, Craig Campion, Jacob Oram, Troy Lloyd-Warne, Lauren Egg, Samantha Cuff, Sarah Purnell, Lauren Baker, Nathan Bentley, Catherine Lumley, Lauren Egg, Louise Cummins, Robyn Rayner, Nicola Digby & Steve Pollett  as well as all those achieving personal best times, Louise Cummins, Steve Pollett, Lauren Flight, Katie Stratton, Megan Florey, Michael Harrison, Lauren Baker, Jordan Brice, Nathan Bentley, Craig Campion, Casey Reed, Myles Florey, Lauren Baker, Alex Cuff & Lauren Egg.

Making his debut appearance to a league gala was young Jordan Brice, it was his first league gala for us and he swum excellent for us, knocking 3 seconds off his 25m Fly.  Katie Stratton took 2 seconds off her 100m Breaststroke.  Michael Harrison knocked 5secs off his 100m F/C then went on to knock another 4sec off his 50m fly. Nathan Bentley knocked a further 2seconds off his 50m Breaststroke (after adding 1 second onto his Back Crawl & missing training for the week).

Team Manager Sue Shaw said she was delighted with the results achieved and thanks all those that worked really hard to make it a great night. It just goes to show what hard work and commitment can achieve.

Final Placing's were as follows, Epping 1st 242 points, WITHAM 2nd 205 points,  Dagenham 3rd 198, Leyton 4th 170 points & Barking 5th 127 points.
