Dolphins Triumphant Weekend!

Saturday 15th October 2005

On Saturday 15 October 2005 a team of Junior & A-Squad swimmers from Witham Dolphins Swimming Club travelled to Fullwell Cross - Walthamstow to compete in the Essex Sprint League Gala and claimed their well deserved 2ND Place scoring 205 points overall.

Swimming against other teams from Epping, Barking, Dagenham & Leytonstone the Witham team pulled out of the bag during the evening’s event some outstanding swims and made their coaches, Lynn Smith, Jenny Slater, Sue Shaw, Sam White & Paul Robbins extremely proud of their achievements.

During the even a total of 48 races were swum with Witham claiming a total of 16 FIRST place swims along with a superb 16 personal best times.

Sue Shaw went on to comment, we were in the lead at the 13th race being 4 points ahead of Epping.  For two new children not yet quite of trials, Toby French & Joseph Laurie this was their first opportunity to swim for the club and they made a very valuable contribution to the Relay Teams.  For another group of children this was also their debut gala.  The continuous results achieved by this dedicated team of children, only goes to prove what hard work and determination can deliver.  I’m just thrilled!  My race of the night has to be the relay in which talented Myles Florey pulled back the fly to win First Place!

Credit also must be given to some exceptional swims from Louise Cummins, Troy Llyod-Warne, Lauren Egg, Myles Florey, Charlotte White, Andrew Wright, Sarah Purnell, Lauren Flight, Michael Harrison, Lauren Baker, Matthew Stoker, Catherine Lumley, Matthew Bilby, Matthew Davies, Robyn Rayner, Steven Pollett, Sarah Kearsey, Alex Cuff, and Jack Cullen.

Special Mention must also go to Lauren Flight who knocked of a massive 17 seconds from her Under 15’s 100 metre front crawl race.

Final placing’s were as follows, Epping 220 Points, Witham Dolphins S.C – 205 points 2ND Place, 3RD Dagenham 200 points, 4TH Barking 178 Points, 5TH Leyton 144 Points.

Anyone wishing to apply for membership to the club should come along with their kit on a Sunday Evening at 5.00pm to Bramston Sports Centre Witham and ask Lynn Smith o poolside for a trial.
