Dolphins Under 13's Crown Joinery Gala Triumph!

On Saturday 04 June 2005 a team of 25 Junior 7 A-Squad swimmers from Witham Dolphins Swimming Club travelled to Harwich to compete in the Crown Joinery Trophy Gala and claimed their well deserved FIRST Place scoring 115 points overall.

Swimming against other teams from Clacton, Harwich and local rivals Halstead the Witham Under13’s pulled out of the bag during the evening’s event some outstanding swims and made their coaches, Lynn Smith, Jenny Slater, Sue Shaw, Sam White & Paul Robbins extremely proud of their achievements. During the even a total of 48 races were swum with Witham claiming a total of 14 FIRST place swims along with a superb 23 personal best times.

Lynn Smith went on to comment, for a large number of the children this was their first opportunity to swim individual races and for a small group this was their debut gala. The continuous results achieved by this dedicated team of children, only goes to prove what hard work and determination can deliver. I’m just thrilled!

Final placing’s were as follows, Witham Dolphins S.C – 115 points FIRST Place, Clacton S.C & Halstead S.C - 107 points Joint SECOND place and Harwich S.C – 102 points THIRD Place.

The evening concluded with a Skins knockout race where the top boy and girl from each club swim against each other in a knock out style race in order to gain trophy placing. Again Witham were strong to the end and had both a boy and girl swimmer in the final heats. Katie Stratton for Witham went on to take the girls title and Myles Florey was robbed of the boy’s title after slipping on the blocks at the start of the final heat.
