| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southend-On-Sea Open28th March 2005On Saturday 25th March 2005 a small group of Witham Dolphins S.C. swimmers went to Southend – on – Sea, Easter Open Meet. The open gala’s first event was the Girls 100 metres Breaststroke, which consisted of Witham Dolphins swimmers Sarah and Nicola Digby. Each event is sorted by times entered, this meant that the swimmers would not necessarily be swimming against people in their age group within their heat. At the end of each event the times swam were sorted into age groups. Depending upon the times swam on the day provided the overall position for the age group. Sarah was first to swim, her impressive breaststroke gained her 8th place within her age group and a new Personal Best in the time of 1.43.25. Nicola followed Sarah’s inspiring breaststroke, which helped her to achieve 13th position within her age group. The next event was the Boys 100 metres Butterfly, where Witham Dolphins only boy swimmer for the day, Matthew Bilbey. The hard working stroke of butterfly gave Matt a time that positioned him 11th. Event 3, the Girls 100 metres Freestyle saw Nicola Digby swimming again and Catherine Lumley. Nicola’s quick stroke gave her a swimming time that positioned her 15th. Catherine Lumley’s determination in freestyle achieved her a new Personal Best in a time of 1.06.13 and also positioned her at an amazing first place. Matt Bilbey then swam in the Boys 100 metres Backstroke his fast action within the water gained him 3rd place. Catherine and Matt both got a medal for their hard working achievements. The day was very hot and tiring for the swimmers. Head coach Paul Robbins was extremely pleased about the results, proving that all their hard work has paid off.
