WDSC Mini Climb

Saturday 10th July 2004

On Saturday 10 July 2004 Witham Dolphins Swimming Club travelled to the neighbouring town Braintree to take part in the Essex Mini League Gala at Riverside Pool.

The evening commenced with great excitement and it soon was apparent that a great night’s swimming was about to evolve for the "Witham Dolphins Team". Opening the events with the under 12’s Back Crawl were Katie Stratton taking 2nd Place and Matt Brookes coming home with a well deserved 1st place. This result was soon to set the president for the rest of the evening and a total of 10 1st placing’s were to follow during the evenings swimming.

Worthy of mention has to be ALL of our first place swimmers namely, Matthew Brookes, Sarah Digby, Michael Harrison, Myles Florey, Catherine Lumley, Matt Bilby & Louise Cummings. Our "A" Squad Relay Teams also deserving mention consisted of Charlotte, Nicola, Catherine & Lousise, Andrew, Michael, Matt & Myles.

Credit has to go to all of our junior squad swimmers who were exceptional during the evening especially our under 10 relay teams consisting of girls Lauren Baker, Emily Bulleid, Megan Florey & Rachel Tye & for the boys Toby, Jack, Nathan, David & James.

A total of 19 Personal bests were achieved (and some very near misses) and this only goes to show how responsive the children are to the superb coaching and hard work and commitment given by ALL of our instructors to the membership. The club personally thank the parents for their support in encouraging their children in their chosen sporting activity.

Finals scores held Braintree Swimming Club 1st with 175 points, Harwich Swimming Club 2nd 171 points, WITHAM DOLPHINS 3rd with 151 points, Saffron Walden Swimming Club 4th with 118 points & Wentworth Swimming Club 5th with 59 points.
